Linda Carroll, MS

Welcome

Linda Carroll

I bring a gentle, direct, and respectful style to my work. The theoretical orientation I use is known as psychodynamic, one of the most commonly used types of psychotherapy. We often repeat painful and unproductive patterns of thinking, feeling and acting, without understanding why. Psychodynamic therapy helps you become aware of the inner forces that cause these repeated patterns, so that you can make conscious and lasting changes. I respect the need for adequate diagnosis, especially when there is a strong component of anxiety and depression involved. I work closely with psychiatrist and physicians when it is necessary. At the same time, my approach is to encourage each client to find answers within themselves. I see life's struggles and difficult passages as opportunities to deepen one's self-understanding and to find new paths for self-discovery.

I have been working in the field since 1980 and have facilitated couples groups and women's groups for over 25 years.

In addition to being a licensed therapist, I have developed a variety of skills to assist you in making desired changes. I am certified in Transpersonal Psychology and Imago Therapy, and I am a Master PAIRS teacher and a licensed teacher o f the Hot Monogamy program. I have studied many modalities of psychological and spiritual work, including Voice Dialogue, The Diamond Heart Work of A. Almaas, and Holotropic Breathwork.

I am also a writer. Doubleday published my memoir, Her Mother's Daughter, in 2006. Conari Press will publish Remember Who You Are: Seven Stages on a Woman's Journey of Spirit in the fall of 2008. I am currently working on Love's Four Journeys, a book about relationships.

I am covered by many insurances and PPO's.
